LEH : THE STORY OF WATER IN PARADISE (Director’s Cut)

Experiencing Leh in winter is a unique experience. Trees are resting, streams are a sheet of white and chilly winds run amok the bare 11,000 ft desert. But the one striking visual is of women, men, children on foot in sub-zero temperatures ferrying drinking water in plastic jerry cans - from water tankers and distant semi-frozen streams. There is no water supply at homes during November -February because pipelines either freeze or burst. Women and young girls bear the highest burden of this water crisis.
